Dont Dev's check these forums, maybe they should just tell us about the ta[pestry shred. it would help

1) the feather, pendant, and pearl are for altheas gifts quest or something, it is a working quest, and has nothing to do with the shred

2) The tapestry shred is a quest item, and people say that they have had responses from ANet confirming the quest is broken. As for Sarah, Gwen's mother, she is in the UW but when you talk to her she only says something like "Have you seen my little girl?" There is no option to give her the shred or the cape or the flute. And it is my opinion that it will come into play when the expansion comes out.

Actually, I met Sarah in the little fishing village in Pre-Searing (in Wizard's Folley, perhaps? I believe it was a ranger quest that took me there..). I couldn't get her to do anything (pretty sure I even had Gwen with me), but she was there just the same.

'tis a mystery for sure.. finding three items (The Shred, Broken Flute, and Tattered Cape) certainly wouldn't be much of a stretch in terms of requirements for fulfilling a quest in an RPG though
